Military Escalation in Korea, MANNAM,its the time to move further and higher!:)

North Korea sentences US citizen to 15 years' hard labour

Pae Jun-ho, known in the US as Kenneth Bae
North Korea says it has sentenced a US citizen to 15 years of hard labour.
The announcement, from state news agency KCNA, said Pae Jun-ho, known in the US as Kenneth Bae, was tried on 30 April.
He was held last year after entering North Korea as a tourist. Pyongyang said he was accused of anti-government crimes.
The move comes amid high tensions between North Korea and the US, after Pyongyang's third nuclear test.

North Korean media said last week that Mr Pae had admitted charges of crimes against North Korea, including attempting to overthrow the government.
"The Supreme Court sentenced him to 15 years of compulsory labour for this crime," KCNA said.
Mr Pae, 44, was arrested in November as he entered the northeastern port city of Rason, a special economic zone near North Korea's border with China.
He is believed to be a tour operator of Korean descent. The Associated Press news agency also reports that he is described by friends as a devout Christian.

South Korean activists say Mr Pae may have been arrested for taking photos of starving children in North Korea.
"We call on the DPRK [North Korea] to release Kenneth Bae immediately on humanitarian grounds," US State Department spokesman Patrick Ventrell said on Monday.
Diplomats from Sweden, which represents the US in North Korea in the absence of diplomatic ties, had been providing counsel to Mr Pae, reports said. The US State Department was working with the Swedish embassy to confirm the report of the sentencing, AP reported.

Nuclear tensions

North Korea has arrested several US citizens in recent years, including journalists and Christians accused of proselytism.
They were released after intervention from high-profile American figures, including former Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter, both of whom went to Pyongyang.

In 2009, Mr Clinton negotiated the release of two US journalists accused of entering North Korea illegally, Laura Ling and Euna Lee.
Held after North Korea's second nuclear test, both had been sentenced to 12 years of hard labour before they were released.
Observers suggest Pyongyang could be using the jailed American as leverage, amid a very tense situation on the Korean peninsula.

The UN expanded sanctions against the communist state in March, in the wake of its 12 February nuclear test and December long-range rocket launch.
Pyongyang reacted angrily both to the measures and annual US-South Korea military exercises which saw high-profile displays of US military hardware.
It threatened to attack US military bases around the region and cut key hotlines with South Korea.
It also withdrew its workers from the North-South joint industrial zone at Kaesong, and prevented South Korean workers from crossing the border into the zone.

US detainees in North Korea

Eddie Jun Yong-su: Businessman detained for six months in 2011, freed after a visit led by US envoy Robert King
Aijalon Mahli Gomes: Teacher and Christian jailed in 2010 for eight years over illegal entry via China - freed after Jimmy Carter visited Pyongyang
Robert Park: US activist crossed into North Korea via China in late 2009 - freed in 2010 by North Korea
Laura Ling/Euna Lee: Jailed in 2009 for 12 years over illegal entry via the Chinese border - freed after Bill Clinton met Kim Jong-il

The North then rejected South Korea's call for talks, prompting Seoul to pull its staff out for the first time since the project was launched a decade ago.
A total of 125 South Koreans left the Kaesong complex on Saturday, and another 43 withdrew on Monday.
Only seven South Koreans remain at Kaesong, a complex just inside North Korea where more than 120 South Korean firms operate using North Korea workers.
Seoul says they are negotiating final wage payments and should be returning South soon.
The South Korean government has pledged 300bn won ($273m, £175m) in emergency loans for firms hit by the suspension at Kaesong.

This is from BBC News.

The US soldiers I see even in a small city in South Korea are burgeoning.
As you read it, most of the workers at Kaesong have had to leave for back home, South Korea.
I haven't been really worried of the tension in Korea peninsula, but I have to be honest, I am getting a bit nervous.
Everyday what I read is new today and this such situation seems to get more serious.
No War, truly!

On 21th, April, there was an peaceful event, 10K walk for peace in Seoul Grand Park, South Korea.
The host organization was MYIC(MANNAM Youth International Coalition) with MANNAM.
I was also a part of the peaceful movement with my friends who are from all over the world.
Cambodia, Iran, Kazakhstan, USA, Vietnam, Indonesia, Canada, Uzbekistan, Japan, Nepal, New Zealand and South Korea..
(I wish I had a North Korea friend!!)

We had tons of fun at zoo with lots of laughter and walked a bit for peace with pleasant talks and warm hearts for each other.
Indeed, we've longed for peace and liberty.

Desperate for peace with a real fear in South, Korea.
Friends who love PEACE, please work together for having peace, not letting it go....!

As many people have heard and have felt sympathy on the bombs in Boston marathon competition and now USA police has found the suspect, the Tsarnaev brothers.

They were born in Chechen and have taken refuge in US and Tsarnaev was questioned in 2011 amid claims he had adopted radical Islam.
Their uncle said "These are the only reasons I can imagine of. Anything else, anything else to do with religion, with Islam, it's a fraud, it's a fake."
"I don't have a single American friend. I don't understand them,"
Tamerlan Tsarnaev, he was quoted as saying by the Boston University publication.

If they had a single American friend, would it be different from now?

The Science Of Sleep, 2005

The Science Of Sleep, 2005, Director. Michel Gondry

It's all about communication.
Mis-communication allows wars happen in the world and well-communication let us in peace.

Then how can we communicate well with others?

1. Respect other beings as who and what they are.

Case :
I am Asian and my friend is American.
We do think and talk differently in all the situations but never argue with each other.
Because we know we have different cultural background and knowledge from how we have been taught from each opposite sides.
When I get something strange and awkward feeling from some specific situations, I go for asking my friends to explain them to me with satisfying description.
There is no chance to be seen mis-understanding or mis-communication happening in our friendship :)

2. Care other beings what they 'really' want to talk about through their 'talk'
Case :
North Korea has been threatening people in the world, especially South Koreans and foreigners who are staying in South Korea.
They said they are actually attacking South Korea, so foreigners were told to evacuate by North Korea. CNN even made a video-clip showing us how 'the war' will go between South and North Korea with specific numbers like the duration of the war, expected outcome and etc(Speechless!).
I am not saying there is 0% of possibility of the outbreak of war but pretty much sure North Korea has many obstacles(especially lack of national finance) to be sorted out.
The point is that Why they are doing it more than what they are doing.
If, if the war happens in South Korea, still their next step would be predictable to defend ourselves.
If we do our jobs as doing proper and efficient communication with different people then Love would only last in the world.

Any more interesting and attractive ideas are most welcome! :)

How to start for PEACE

North Korea and How to reach out the world peace in South Korea.

Two countries are at war at the moment in 2013.
Guess which countries I am talking about. South, Korea and North, Korea are during the war getting such attention from more overseas and less local residents.

As I stay inside of the actual performance place, South Korea, I see how some foreigners get frustrated and many of Korean residents switch it off.
What is really happening here?
While I keep considering about it and laughing about it, such a question pops out in my mind.
Why are they at war? Who invented war? What is war?

I go to Wikipedia to get definition of war.
I read all the description which could be ambiguous, doesn't really help me either, and realize I am actually just reading it without knowing.

The idea of war in my mind reaches out the opposite of war, PEACE.
Am I able to get peace?
Peace is a word everyone seems to desire it by.
Then what is peace? Can I find peace in the world hopefully?

Or one step further, can I produce peace not only in my life but also in the world?
If I am a person who chases for peace, what can I do for it?
So many questions mingle in my brain, I find some ways to let me get into peace by a practical and amazing volunteer organization, MANNAM.

I see the slogan on the top of my laptop screen, 'Light meets light, there is Victory'.
I think 'Wow, that's very poetic'.
Then I check out what they have done, been doing and will do for the world peace.
I slightly get to know that this organization is different from others.

Well, good start.
